Jones will be the feature model at this year’s Body Gras! extravanganza at Beban Park Sept. 22 at 8 p.m.
Jones, a New Jersey State and East Coast bodybuilding champion, personal trainer, health and fitness writer and model, was discovered by Team Body Gras! at the World Bodypainting Festival in Seeboden, Austria earlier this summer. After watching him in action, the team invited Jones – all expenses paid – to take part in this year’s beefed up event.
“With his amazing stature, lively personality and extensive background in bodybuilding and health and fitness, we knew he would be a major drawing card for Body Gras!,” said Dawn Tyndall, business manager of this seven-year-old multi-city event. “Watching him perform is quite awe-inspiring.”
As the 15 competing teams are behind the scenes creating their living artwork, artist Jeff King will paint Jones in front of the Beban Park audience. Also on stage will be internationally recognized artist, Jan Smart, who will colourfully adorn a female model on stage as well.
In addition to live bodypainting demonstrations and the team competitions, there will also be a slate of eclectic performances including fire dancing, drumming and more.
Body art festivals in Europe, the U.S. and South America draw huge crowds, said King.
“Audiences are a mix of pros and wannabes from fashion, esthetics, film and the fine arts to fans, family and frivolous partiers,” he said.
Tickets to the Sept. 22 Body Gras! event, which go for $25 for general seating and $65 for premier seating closest to the stage, are available at Music Maxx, Island Vet Hospital, Sundown Diving, The House of Indigo Bead and Boutique Store and at the door.
