you have to be 18 and they do it by using a clamp and stick a needle through it and then put the piercing in. please research it before you get it done.
you have to be 16 to get it done on your own (with proof of age)
but if a legal parent/guardian comes with you you stil are meant to be 16, but you dont need proof.
it is done by swilling mouthwash in your mouth for about 2 mins to numb it a bit, then it is clamped, and a hollow needle pushed through your tongue (from underneath), then the piercer will put int he jewellry and…HEY PRESTO !
I got mine when i was 15. It didnt hurt to put the needle threw but the swelling and healing afterwords did hurt a little bit. My mom had to be there to sign for it. it healed really well. Just make sure you done talk or eat solid foods for about 3 days. and wash it with NO ALOCHOL mouthwash after eating drinking smoking…..NO ORAL CONTACT (sorry kids) Mine healed in 8 weeks. After about 10 days I recomend moving to a smaller bar. It helps reduce mechanical stress. The bottom of your mouth will get sore from the ball rubbing, same with the top but everything will thicken up and itll be fine.
I hope this helps!!!
