It is done using a labret stud for piercing the chin and is utilized as piercing Monroe. This kind of piercing is used to add a freak and stylish look to personality and this is the major reason as to why most of the people go for it. No matter ho w fashionable it makes you look, it is a piercings and it pains.

The best thing about Monroe piercing is that the healing time it takes is much faster as compared to all other kinds of piercings.

There’s no hard evidence. But the correlation has local acupuncturists and body piercers intrigued — and baffled.

Granted, it’s only been three months. But if you’re a victim of chronic anxiety — paralyzing panic attacks several times a week, usually for no reason — three months feels like a new life. Like coming up for breath after 29 years under water.

It was September, and I had an especially rough attack. In a daze, I ended up at K&K Piercing on University Hill in Boulder. I walked in and impulsively asked the workers to pierce my chest with a vertical bar in between my breasts along the middle of my body. This was out of character; I’m not a big fan of piercings, and I didn’t know anyone with one. Maybe I thought it would be a good distraction.

It did not hurt. In fact, it felt tingly. Odd.

Several weeks later, I was at my acupuncturist. I told him about my piecing. I asked him if the rod through my chest could affect the flow of my energy, or “chi” in Eastern medicine. If sticking tiny acupuncture needles into your body can transform you, what about a more permanent puncture?

He looked at where I was pierced and smiled.

“You pieced two exact acupuncture points,” he said. “The anxiety points.”

Acupuncturists place needles there to reduce panic attacks, insomnia and anxiety. The increased blood flow and changed direction of the energy there often eliminates panic attacks, he said. I had never talked to him about my struggles with anxiety.

Which is when I realized I have not had an attack since I got the piercing.

Still haven’t.

I didn’t even know what I was doing when I got the piercing. Could I have subconsciously “fixed” myself? I consulted the experts for an answer.

More than a pretty jewel

Jeanette Barrie says maybe.

Barrie, of Boulder, is an integrative wellness counselor with a background in Ayurveda, an alternative medicine with roots in India.

Piecing the ears and nose is an extension of traditional Indian acupuncture, Barrie says — “not just for beauty, but to trigger the vital energy points in the system.”

Ayurveda tells women to piece their left nostrils with a gold post. That is supposed to ease childbirth and menstrual pain by giving a warming, energetic balance to the cooling right (“lunar”) side of the brain, which rules the left side of the body.

Michelle Backus agrees; piercings affect your body beyond simple aesthetics.

Backus is the owner of the Ayurveda-based Alaya Yoga Spa in Louisville, and she does marma point massage. Marma points are similar to acupressure points, although they don’t directly overlap in location or size.

Initially, Backus says, “You get a euphoric rush when you get a tattoo or piercing at the physical level, and the mind and emotions are usually in a particular state before you get the work done, then afterward your mind and emotions have shifted.”

A tattoo on a marma point, such as the palm of the hand, or a piercing at a marma point, such as the “Nabhi Marma” (navel) serves a similar function as marma massage or acupuncture, Backus says.

But, she adds, the energy change is not long-term — positively or negatively. The energy of marmas will eventually redistribute around the piercing.

Unlike the deeper needling in Chinese acupuncture, Japanese acupuncture uses more superficial stimuli. And throughout history, people have tattooed their bodies on specific points to “re-regulate nerves,” according to Japanese acupuncturist Dann.

Europe’s oldest natural human mummy, found frozen in the Alps, sported 57 tattoo marks on his body on the acupuncture points for osteo-arthritis. An X-ray found he had arthritis, suggesting he had been tattooed for medical reasons.

“There’s enough history that shows certain types of piercings and tattoos have been used to enhance energy flows,” Dann says.

And in Africa, scarification — a sort of mix between tattoos and piercing — was believed to open up spiritual and physiological energies, Dann says. For example, scarification on the chest would open up the home of the spirit. Read more

To understand the “piercing psychology” you have to remember that it’s just – and foremost – is an adornment. That is, what motivates people to put this earring is the desire to beautify one’s body in order to produce certain impression or create an image. Yet, there are some other reasons, aside of those to make one’s body more appealing.

Primary, it’s the desire to go “nostril-to-nostril” with the fashion trends. With this in mind, people place earrings on most visible body parts. Secondly, folks strive for that exclusive distinguishing look. In this case, the desire to stay out of flock could gradually result in putting on yet more and more “frills”. That is, ones this special image among those without piercing is achieved, people start to pursue new heights in acquiring the fanciest look among the others who sport those earrings, too! This way, area- and regional champions appear in certain social groups or hangouts.

One of the hidden reasons is going for sexier look. Here we are not necessary talking about some complex sexual self-assurance issue. It’s just an extra attention among the potential partners, more chances for meeting someone which people are after. Some even rely on this as and aid in striking the conversation.

In general, an idea to overcome one of personal complexes by body piercing is fair reason to look for that piercing specialist and quite simple way to solve psychological issue. Though, it is simple only if the procedure would be gone with no bad consequences, the wound will heal smoothly and your body accepts new tuning without the rebellion.

Numerous cases show us that idolizing these poster-models or one’s cult figures could play as powerful reason for modifying someone’s own appearance. Piercing is not an exception here, and there is not only TV-stars to stay for a hero, but any other popular individuals who is a role-model in close social group.

People commonly possess a desire to be different, and not only on a personal level, but also with the way they create their own social groups, adopting one or the other significant outer attributes as a signs of belonging. Everyone can recall such groups like sport club fans, bikers, “metallists”, sexual minorities, etc. Now, if someone wants to feel belonged, accepted by certain social group, to be recognizable by those who sport, for an example, some distinctive piercing, here comes more than obvious motive for it!

In order to prevent an inflammation, your fresh piercing demands for constant ongoing care. During at least two weeks, twice a day minimum, you will have to clean your wound with special liquid disinfectant, up to complete healing will be achieved. Please use only oil-free antiseptic creams, forget about the sauna, pool and solarium, swimming in natural water basins and especially in sea water, because sea water slows the healing process.

Should any complications (such as severe redness, pain, etc.) occur, rush to the dermatologist immediately. Could happen, the doctor will have to remove your ring.

If you have managed without an inflammation, wear first adornment until the wound heals completely. Otherwise, it might easy catch dirt, and this time an inflammation will develop for sure.
No other care products are allowed, except recommended ones, and no other creams should be used but oil-free.

Please refer to the description of the professionally done piercing after-effects provided below:

1) Stable redness, which is expected to go down in 3-4 days;
2) Bleeding can last over some two-three days;
3) Extra sensitivity will bother you for approximately 2 weeks;
4) There will be some discharge of white-yellowish liquid for nearly 2 weeks, which is just normal and good for healing;
5) It could slightly decrease in size.

No way.
-Speaking of yet another big No, please never trust your acquaintances to perform the Procedure for you – even if they possess Medical Diploma. Do we have to mention that no one should ever take chances turning the piercing in do-it-yourself project?
-Unless your Professional recommends otherwise, do not apply any alcohol-containing substances on freshly pierced spots. It’s rarely recommended to use some alcohol or hydrogen peroxide for primary treatment of healing belly-button, nose or eyebrow areas….

To perforate the body soft tissues, providing new apertures for various objects to be placed in them – this historically could have been done with all the different reasons: for an instance, ancient Romans were practically smart to use their pierced nipples for special rings which then allowed for their cloaks to stay in place. And infamous avant-garde artist Prince Albert, whose name is given nowadays to entire trade of the most popular male genital piercing, back then once had pierced his own balanus in order to tie his penis to his hip – as it was suitable while wearing his favorite close-fit pants and which otherwise would disagree with His Royalty anatomy. Much more diverse reasons had Africans and other countries locals driven in their ways with the piercing – their aesthetic canon roots reach such time depths western body-art devotees have never dreamt of…

Throughout time, man has sought to decorate the human body and this has manifested as body painting, tattoos, piercing and for those a little squeamish or less brave, decoration by the wearing of adornments generally know as jewelry.

In ancient times, jewelry may have been simple pieces made from natural materials such as shells plucked from the seashore or pebbles worn smooth and polished by years of being tumbled along the sea or river bed. These would have been strung together perhaps as necklaces or wrist pieces as early examples of a charm bracelet. Nature gives up so many beautiful things that can be used to make items such as earrings, rings, bracelets, hair pieces and so the list goes on.

Skilled craftsmen would have laboured for many hours intricately carving small pieces of bone, ivory or wood to fashion exquisite unique pieces of jewelry, no two of which would ever be the same.

To ancient man, jewelry was not just decorative but very symbolic and the wearer often held the belief that these trinkets were lucky, that they would ward off evil spirits or that they would even help them defeat their enemies in battle.

To the Romans and Ancient Egyptians the wearing of jewelry and the type of jewelry worn was a direct indication of a persons standing in the community. Large heavy ornate pieces forged from solid precious metals such as gold, encrusted with precious or semi precious gemstones were a sign to say – look how rich and important I am.

Styles and materials may have changed over time but the wearing of jewelry has always been a practice adopted by both men and women.

Over the years there has even been functional jewelry such as the medical alert items, which have saved many peoples lives. Identity type bracelets worn by a person who has a medical condition or requires vital medication have helped medical personnel decide on appropriate treatment when faced with a person who has been rendered incapable of communicating because of for instance an accident.

Over recent years, popular items have been the brightly coloured rubber bracelets sold in aid of various charities, which demonstrate that the wearer supports that cause and has donated money to help raise funds for that cause. Some traditionalists may not regard these strictly as being jewelry although who said that the article had to be expensive or made from precious metals to qualify for the name.

In modern times, we have seen a huge increase in the type and variety of jewelry available and the discovery of new strong and lightweight metals such as titanium or other alloys has given rise to new many new possibilities. Man made materials such as acrylics and plastics also lend themselves very well to the manufacture of affordable, colourful jewelry and in the shops you can see many examples of wonderful, bright and modern fun items, to be worn on any occasion as the mood takes.
Whilst most of us choose to spend a little extra on that special piece of jewelry such as our wedding rings, we now have an endless choice of less expensive everyday jewelry which we can change to suit our mood or match our outfit.

Who knows what the future holds with regard to the designs and materials we will have at our disposal to make attractive pieces of jewelry to be worn by both men and women. One thing is for certain and that is that there will be a never ending supply with something to suit all tastes and all budgets from the most traditional to the most contemporary.

Have you ever heard of a belly button ring (or any piercing for that matter) making an escape attempt out of your body? I’m not talking about the jewelry coming undone either, I’m talking about the body rejecting it and pushing it out through the skin! This phenomenon is known as migration (or more commonly – rejection).

If you were to imagine for a moment – earrings that are very thin and very heavy, slowly ‘dragging’ downwards and out of the ear. That could happen if the guage size on your belly button ring is the wrong size too. It’s a good thing to be aware of.

There are other things that might cause a belly button ring migration though. The body might not ‘bond’ with the metal that has been used in the jewelry. This is highly uncommon these days because the belly button ring metals that are used are hospital/surgical grade implant metals. That’s right, the kind of metals used for surgery!

Tissue damage could also cause belly button ring migration, along with incorrect placement of the belly button ring (ie the piercing is too close to the surface). Rubbing or friction could also have an effect on a migrating belly button ring.

A migrating belly button ring may not migrate all the way out. It may just move a little bit and then stop.

The best thing to do though if you do notice your belly button ring migrating, is go and see your reputable piercing salon. They should know what they are doing, and be able to advise you of the best course of action. They do this stuff all the time! It may just mean you need to remove the ring until it’s healed, and the re-pierce, or take the belly button ring out altogether (worst case scenario).

Tattoos and piercings are two terms very much in vogue now, with an increasing number of fashionable people opting for these. Tattoos are permanent designs made on the skin using ink or other pigments. Piercing is done with a sterile needle. Ears, nose, lips, eyebrows, and many other body parts are pierced. People practice tattoos and piercing for religious and other cultural reasons, as well as for fashion.

Tattoos and piercing were used as initiation rites and socialization symbols in some early societies. The early Egyptian civilization associated tattooing with fertility and royalty. Tattoo designs are known for their variety and include tribal tattoos, Celtic tattoos, fairy tattoos, cross tattoos, dragon tattoos, butterfly tattoos, and zodiac tattoos. Ear piercing and the piercing of other body areas have become widespread among both men and women in the last 25 years. Piercings are done either by a spring-loaded ear-piercing gun or piercing needles. The skin is cleaned, and then the needle and jewelry are inserted through the tissue quickly with professional ease.

Tattoos and piercings can cause skin reactions and bacterial infections, if proper hygiene is not observed. Signs and symptoms of infection include warmth, swelling, redness, and a discharge containing pus. The best way to prevent infection from piercing or tattoos is that the procedures should be done in a sterile environment. For each customer, piercers and tattoo artists must use a brand new sterile needle.

Tattoo designs are priced according to the design, size and colors. Piercing charges vary according to the part of the body. Over most of the United States, tattooing and piercing are unregulated. However, there are some states where these are illegal. Henna tattooing is now gaining popularity in America, even though it is a temporary procedure.

Getting your nipples or genital pierced has become very popular among both men and women, while the other types of piercing like tongue, nose and eye brow or naval are still gender specific. Back thousands of years ago Body piercing jewelry was popular among tribes as a sign of wealth and prosperity; you can see a lot of references of body piercing in the bible. Although body piercing jewelry was not popular until about 20 years ago, it actually has a very long history. Look through the archives the first recorded body jewelry piercing comes from evidence in the middle east of a nose ring piercing recorded over 4,000 years ago.

The most popular piercing jewelry are earlets, labret rings, ear barbells, navel rings, and nipple rings. Today’s generation, believe it or not, much like ancient society throughout history, have gone to the more extreme multiple piercing of various body parts. Body jewelry has come a very long way, look back in history many women only pierced their ears while men did not pierce anything on their bodies, today that has all changed.

Once body piercing was limited to those that were adventurous and, piercing was limited to a few parts of the body. Among the most popular body piercing jewelry, earrings once topped the list. The term body jewelry means that it is displayed on various parts of the body like, naval, ears, tongue, genital, nipples and eye brows, many young people are doing this and it becoming a part of the mainstream and defining certain styles and fashion trends. Be careful about the piercing process too and ensure its sterilization as well.

Jewelry has always spruced up the fashion sense of the young and the old, jewelry brings a certain flair to every special occasion. Everywhere you look body piercing jewelry is seen everywhere, the younger generation has brought the trend into mainstream fashion quite quickly and is now apart of today’s fashion style in the United States. The new trend today is body jewelry and it has slowly influencing many fashion trends like the midriff shirts, the smaller shirts allow the belly button ring to be seen by everyone.

Fashion is about looking exotic, be it at the cost of comfort. Most people think that body jewelry is something new to the fashion world, in reality body piercing dates back to ancient times.

You can now shop online for your body jewelry. Many people are finding that they are able to find the body jewelry much cheaper when shopping online. The online store have a larger selection and sometimes offer a discount if you buy more than one type of body jewelry. Belly button rings have become the largest body jewelry sale item on the internet. Many people are not just buying gold and silver belly button rings but are purchasing diamond belly button rings and showing them off with belly shirts that show their midriff.
